Crochet Jacob Black

I love running across interesting Twilight products that are original and one-of-a-kind like this tiny Jacob Black Crochet Doll I found over at Etsy. The doll is four inches in height stuffed with polyester fiberfill and crocheted with cotton yam. His eyes are tiny beads, his hair is black yarn, and he’s in his blue sweat pants. Isn’t he adorable (even if you don’t like Jacob)? Etsy seller deadcraft also  makes a cute Edward. You can find her dolls here.

Behind Edward’s Wings

ed-wingsI just watched Twilight for the fourth time, and finally noticed how beautiful Edward looks with angel wings in the lab scene thanks to a prop sitting right behind him. I thought the effect was too perfect to be mere coincidence, and apparently I wasn’t the only one who noticed. Britten from Feyavanya’s Thoughts spotted the owl behind Edward, and decided to ask Catherine Hardwicke what that was all about in a live online chat. Her response?

“Okay, the set decorator came and she had all these cool birds, you see all birds in the scene and an armadillo, the Texas state animal, you know, I am a Texan. Anyway I saw that owl and I remembered there was a beautiful art exposition one time where an artist took a photograph of ashes in the snow and nothing else and while the artist took the picture an eagle was flying by and the photograph was taken at the same time (snaps fingers), it was really cool with the wings right behind it, so when I saw that owl and I thought this could be kind of cool, so we worked it around.”

Honestly, I wish she would’ve gotten a little deeper here. Besides being a cool effect, she could’ve gone into details about why do this particular effect in this particular scene.

When I saw the wings on Edward, I immediately thought of Claire Danes in “Romeo and Juliet” when she’s dressed as an angel, so could that have been a source of inspiration for Hardwicke? After all Edward and Bella have been  compared to a Romeo and Juliet many times before.

New Moon and Eclipse release dates leaked

newmoonreleaseFirst things first. The upcoming movies, “New Moon” and “Eclipse,” will be now part of “The Twilight Saga.”  Fair enough. It’s a long name, but those who haven’t read the books need to know the movies are a continuation of Twilight.

Now on to the good news, artwork and release dates have been leaked online for “New Moon” and “Eclipse.” It appears “New Moon” will be hitting theatres on November 20, 2009, while Eclipse will be out the following Summer on June 30, 2010.

MTV  News has confirmed the news:

“Yes, it’s true,” a source at Summit Entertainment confirmed to MTV News Friday evening (February 20). ” ‘The Twilight Saga’s Eclipse’ is dated for Wednesday, June 30, 2010.”

The synopsis has also been leaked:

“As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger,” the plotline explains of the film based on Stephenie Meyer’s “Eclipse” novel.

“In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob — knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death.”

Oh yes! I can’t wait to see them both, although I wouldn’t put my money on that June release date for “Eclipse.” It sounds a little too rush unless they’re being filmed and edited simultaneously by different directors, which is a possibility.  Many of the characters, including Rob Pattinson, are barely in “New Moon” so I don’t see why they wouldn’t be filming the rest of the saga while Jacob chases after Bella in LaPush.  I’m crossing my fingers on this though, although I’m not sure I want to see the end of the Twilight Saga happen so darn quickly.  This is a story you don’t want see come to an end.

What do you guys think?

Stehpenie Meyer in Vogue

dreamcatcherI haven’t bought a copy of Vogue yet, but Vogue has an interview with Stephenie Meyer. You can read it here. What I found interesting is that she says towards the end that she feels really distanced from the Twilight Saga project, especially after the fifth book was leaked online. She admits to experiencing “a little bit of stage fright at this point” so  I really hope she continues to write the Twilight Saga despite being scrutinized and criticized by every one out there. I can’ t imagine what she must be feeling. I also love how she thinks Twilight is “a small business” to her:

“It’s a small business for me still. I mean, people don’t understand; it’s just a little family thing. I couldn’t deal with it if I didn’t keep it small. It freaks me out.”

She’s just so humble and down to earth! I love it.
